Multum in Parvo - A Reflection on our tradition of remembrance

Lest We ForgetSister Ann Taylor, our Congregation Archivist, offers a reflection on Lest We Forget, our tradition of remembering the deceased members of our community. This is a long standing tradition which dates back to the 4th General Chapter in 1909 and the work of Mother Teresa Moran, our third Major Superior. The first collection of obituaries of deceased sisters was published in 1945, and for the past 70 years the regional archivists and scribes have maintained this tradition.

Autumn Assemblies Held in All Three Regions

Welcome MatDuring the month of October Sisters and Associates of St. Joseph of Peace gathered in our three regions for our Autumn Assemblies. The theme of the assembly days was "Hospitable Hearts: Call and Response." The assemblies were focused on the theology and spirituality of Christian hospitality and our practical response to our Chapter Call.

Read the latest issue of our biannual Congregation Magazine, Living Peace. The theme of this issue, Breathing New Life into an Inheritance of Peace. The charism of the Sisters of St Joseph of Peace is peace through justice, expressed more fully in the tagline on our website and the front cover of this publication, “Pursuing justice, we seek God’s gift of peace;” or in the words of the Congregation’s founder, Margaret Anna Cusack, which appear on the Congregation’s letterhead: “The very name Sisters of Peace will, it is hoped, inspire the desire of peace and a love for it.” It is this charism, the continual examining and living of it, that is the inheritance we explore in this issue.

2015 Jubilee CelebrationsJubilarians

April 18 marked the beginning of the 2015 Jubilee celebrations of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. This year the Congregation honors and rejoices with two 75-Year Sisters, two 70-Year Sisters, nine 60-Year Sisters, and one 50-Year Sister for a total of 880 years of ministry in the the eastern part of the United States, the western part of the United States (June 6), and in the United Kingdom (June 27). That’s an impressive reason to celebrate!

Climate PromoPraised Be - Celebrating the Pope's Encyclical

The Congregation Leadership Team has issued a statement on Laudato Si (Praised Be), the Pope's new encyclical on care for our common home.

We have also created a resource page with links to our 2008 Care of Creation and Climate Change Chapter Act and other resources related to the encyclical.
