Sister Chero Professes Perpetual Vows

Sister Chero professes final vowsThe Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace welcomed Sister Hellen Cherotich (Chero) Chuma  into full membership on April 13, 2012.  Sister Chero professed final vows of poverty, celibacy and obedience during a Eucharistic Liturgy held in the Chapel at St. Mary-on-the-Lake in Bellevue, Washington. Sister Chero Chuma is a 30-year old native of Kenya.

“I am filled with joy and excitement as I profess my life commitment with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace,” said Sister Chero. “With God’s grace we will walk together into the future that is in God’s hands.”

2012 Jubilee Celebrations

jubilariansEach Spring, Sisters and Associates of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace gather to celebrate the lives of the Sisters who have reached a milestone in their lives as CSJPs. This year twenty-six Sisters celebrated a total of 1500 years of ministry as Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace! Each region celebrates on a different day. Get the full story:

Sisters Joan and Alexine stand vigilSisters Stand Vigil to Save Korean Island of Jeju

Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace joined more than 60 other advocates to stand vigil outside the Korean Embassy in London to urge that construction of a naval base for U.S. ballistic missles on the island of Jeju be stopped. Jeju Island, one of the "New 7 Wonders of Nature", also has more UNESCO World Natural Heritage sites than any other single location and is designated as a Global Biosphere Reserve.

CSJP Interculturality A Call was the topic of the Assemblies which were attended by Sisters and Associates in the three regions of the Congregation (Western United States, Eastern United States, and the United Kingdom). Our presenter, Sister Teresa Maya, CCVI, a Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word challenged, enriched, and educated us.
