Autumn Assemblies Held in All Three Regions

Welcome MatDuring the month of October Sisters and Associates of St. Joseph of Peace gathered in our three regions for our Autumn Assemblies. The theme of the assembly days was "Hospitable Hearts: Call and Response." The assemblies were focused on the theology and spirituality of Christian hospitality and our practical response to our Chapter Call.

Read the latest issue of our biannual Congregation Magazine, Living Peace. The theme of this issue, Breathing New Life into an Inheritance of Peace. The charism of the Sisters of St Joseph of Peace is peace through justice, expressed more fully in the tagline on our website and the front cover of this publication, “Pursuing justice, we seek God’s gift of peace;” or in the words of the Congregation’s founder, Margaret Anna Cusack, which appear on the Congregation’s letterhead: “The very name Sisters of Peace will, it is hoped, inspire the desire of peace and a love for it.” It is this charism, the continual examining and living of it, that is the inheritance we explore in this issue.

2015 Jubilee CelebrationsJubilarians

April 18 marked the beginning of the 2015 Jubilee celebrations of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. This year the Congregation honors and rejoices with two 75-Year Sisters, two 70-Year Sisters, nine 60-Year Sisters, and one 50-Year Sister for a total of 880 years of ministry in the the eastern part of the United States, the western part of the United States (June 6), and in the United Kingdom (June 27). That’s an impressive reason to celebrate!

Climate PromoPraised Be - Celebrating the Pope's Encyclical

The Congregation Leadership Team has issued a statement on Laudato Si (Praised Be), the Pope's new encyclical on care for our common home.

We have also created a resource page with links to our 2008 Care of Creation and Climate Change Chapter Act and other resources related to the encyclical.


DoveSpring Assemblies Held Across the Congregation

Sisters and Associates of St. Joseph of Peace have gathered in our three regions from March 28 to May 2 for our Spring Assemblies. The theme of the assembly days was "Listening to the Call of our Hearts." We engaged in a contemplative process around our Chapter Call and community life. This was the first assembly since our 2014 Congregation Chapter.

Vocations BlogIntroducing the new CSJP Vocations Blog

Our CSJP Vocations Team recently launched a new vocations blog. We plan to update the blog several times a week at Regular features include “Sister Stories” (updates about the life and ministry of CSJP Sisters today), “Our Roots” (stories from our founding to more recent past), “Vocation Musings” (reflections by Sisters on their own vocation discernment), CSJP Poetry, prayer, reflections, videos, and more. Be sure to check the site often!

Sisters professing vowsFour Women Profess Vows as Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace

We celebrated the first ever profession of vows at a Congregation Chapter on September 6, with not one but four women professing vows as Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace at a Eucharist liturgy. Dorothy Verna was welcomed into full membership and professed perpetual vows. Katrina Alton, Sheena George, and Juliana Ngozi Iwuagwu made their first profession in the congregation.
