During her high school years, Sister Monica also volunteered at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, New Jersey, where she met more of the sisters who inspired her with their dedication and care for the sick. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace on September 12, 1960, and professed final vows on June 20, 1968.
Sister Monica graduated from Caldwell College in Caldwell, New Jersey, with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies and Secondary Education. She earned a Master of Library Science from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1973.

In her service to God’s people through her education ministry, Sister Monica touched the lives and hearts of many. Upon her retirement to St. Michael Villa in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, she spent time reading and pursuing her many hobbies and interests, especially counted cross stitch and quilting. She was a caring presence to sisters and staff alike.
After a short time in hospice care, Sister Monica Donohoe died peacefully on July 10, 2025. She was predeceased by her brother John Patrick Donohoe. She is survived by her brother Kevin Donohoe as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
