The Pursuit of Justice, The Gift of Peace

Back to Our Story: What's New

A Pensive Sister Marilee prays at her Community Blessing

Sister Andrea Nenzel, CSJP leads the community in a send off Blessing for Marilee as she prepares to leave for her new ministry in Haiti.

Sr. Marilee Murphy, CSJP who served for many years in Anchorage Alaska at Providence Hospital in Pastoral Care, was blessed by her Sisters in a morning ceremony at St. Mary-on-the-Lake in Bellevue.

Marilee will soon be involved in a ministry to the poor in a hospital on Haiti.  This will not be the first time that she served in our missions.  In the late sixties she was ministering in the Philippines on the Dole Pineapple Plantations.

This venture will be an experience in a new ministry that the Congregation has chosen to staff.  Marilee will be joined by two of our Sisters from the United Kingdom.  Sisters Ann Crawley and Maureen Boggins.

From the Constitutions of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace.

"The call to live community for mission comes to us from Jesus whose Spirit is the source of our unity.  our sensitivity to this call is heightened by the needs of poor and oppressed people, by the joys and sorrows of our sisters and brothers, and by our confidence that the saving action of Jesus continues in and through humankind.

Our History calls us to a special love for those who are poor.  The weight of suffering and oppression, bourne by so many people today, expecially those who are economically poor, cries out to us for action.  Our response demands a firm commitment to work for justince in solidarity with our sisters and brothers."

May the blessing of God, Source of All Being, Eternal Word and life-giving Spirit be upon you throughout this time of change and transition. We give thanks for the gift you are in our lives and wish you joy in your new ministry.

                      AMEN
