Walking the Labyrinth for Peace in the World

Sisters, Associates and friends gathered at St. Mary-on-the-Lake in Bellevue, Washington on the afternoon of New Year's Eve to walk the labyrinth for peace in the world.
The Peace Labyrinth at St. Mary-on-the-Lake is modeled upon the labyrinth found at Chartres Cathedral in France. Laid in the floor of Chartres Cathedral about 1220 A.D., the labyrinth was created to simulate a pilgrimage to the holy city of Jerusalem.
A labyrinth has only one path. The way in is the way out.
After the opportunity to walk the labyrinth, we gathered in the Chapel for a special New Year's Eve Peace Prayer.
God of Peace you created your people to live an abundant life and walk in the way of peace. We come to you in faith and hope as we celebrate the end of this year 2010.
We pray that all nations might choose to walk in peace and put aside warfare and strife. We ask you to give new and powerful gifts of courage and leadership to those who speak and work for peace.
Help us to speak on behalf of peace, to work for peace, to pray for peace, and live in peace each with one another. Amen
