Care of Creation/Green Meeting
On October 12 the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in our Eastern Region held a Care of Creation/Green Initiative meeting. All ministries in our region were encouraged to attend, chief executives, board members, administrators and key leaders in the Green initiatives. We did have representatives from all of them. The purpose was to share best practices regarding ecological stewardship so they may be used in all facilities sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in New Jersey.
Sr. Norah Clarke, CSJP, Executive Director of St. Ann’s Home for the Aged and Michael Maron, President of Holy Name Medical Center, collaborated with Sr. Rose Marie Moynihan, Superior General of the Sisters of Charity, Convent Station, NJ. Sister served as Director of Global Health for Bon Secours Health System and was responsible for leading a System Greening Initiative.
We learned a lot from one another. We live in a global society and our decisions impact Earth and the lives of others. We want to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations. We want to deepen our spirituality of peace regarding care of creation.
The meeting was concluded with each sponsored ministry agreeing to establish a Greening Committee in their respective ministries. We will gather again to meet with this same group in the future.
Ann Rutan, CSJP
