Spring Assemblies, Jubilee Blessings, Associates Covenanting

The encouraging news from the CARA survey is that God is still calling women and men to religious life. Sisters and Associates left the assemblies with new ideas and heightened energy about how to invite and attract new life to our Congregation.

Nine Jubilarians celebrating 80, 75, 60 and 50 years of religious life received a special blessing at the Assembly in Bellevue, Washington and were further celebrated with much lively dancing on the part of all after dinner.
In Rearsby, England, Associate Mary Bird proclaimed a Lasting Covenant to the Congregation and Sue Sanderson renewed her Commitment for 2 years.

At St. Michael Villa Chapel in Englewood Cliffs, NJ Mike DeVito, Mary Ann Wallen, and Jane Fielding Ellis covenanted for the first time. To read the statements made by each new associate, click the person's name.

The Associates as they renew their covenant.
Gail DeVito, Mary Hurley and Sue Vadas renewed their covenant for one year; Jacqueline Brunetti, Celine Fowler, Kathleen Jacob, Betty Kilcoyne, and Patricia Weidner renewed for three years; and Carolyn Haon, Lois Jablonski, and Diane Stoller renewed their covenant for five years.

Five associates (above) made their Lasting Covenant with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace: Gladys Hughes, Irene King Mennitt, Kathy Czekaj, Jule Scanlon, and Noreen Egan.
All Sisters and Assoicates present then renewed their commitment: "I renew my commitment to the mission of peace through justice within this peace community in a spirit of friendship, peace and trust.
Trusting in God, I will support and encourage you, my brothers and sisters, to live our mutual commitment: ' . . . to promote peace in family life, in the church, and in society. . . . to respect the dignity of all persons, to value the gifts of creation, and to confront oppressive situations. . . . to respond to God’s people in need and to promote social justice as a way to peace.'”
All covenants were accepted by Margaret Byrne, CSJP Congregation Leader of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace.
