Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace Attend Copenhagen Climate Summit

Sister Bridgetta Rooney, CSJP and Sister Suzanne Golas, CSJP represented the Congregation at the Copenhagen Climate Summit.

"COP15, the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit negotiations ended in disappointment and even some degree of rancor.  The hoped for progress forward was replaced by little more than agreement not to ‘lose ground’ in efforts to reduce greenhouse emissions and to financially and technically support poor countries in their efforts to adapt to global warming, the effects of which many of these countries are already experiencing.  That's the bad news.  However, hope and much determination survived.

First Assemblies as a Congregation Without Provinces Held

The Sisters and Associates in the three areas of the world where the CSJPs live and minister participated in another enfleshment of the work and decisions made in the summer of 2008 at our 21st chapter. The meetings were held in each region on a different day: eastern US on October 3, western US on October 17-18, and the United Kingdom on October 24. Each assembly was a mirror of each other with small variations depending on the location. Members of the Leadership Team attended each gathering.

Haiti Mission Launched

The 125th Anniversary Project of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace was officially launched October 5 with the arrivals of Sisters Maureen Boggins, CSJP, Ann Crawley, CSJP, and Marilee Murphy, CSJP at Hopital Sacre Coeur (Sacred Heart Hospital) Milot, Haiti.

Profession of First Vows

The family and friends of Sister Dorothy Verna, CSJP and members of the Congregation representing all three areas of the world in which the CSJP’s serve (the United Kingdom, the east coast and the west coast of the United States) gathered in the chapel at St. Michael Villa in Englewood Cliffs, NJ to celebrate with Dorothy as she pronounced her First Vows!
