Comedian and Actress Faith Alpher recently appeared on OWN, Oprah Winfrey's new television network, to search for Sister of St. Joseph of Peace Lucy Clarke. Sister Lucy taught Faith in the 1970s at St Anastasia Elementary School in Teaneck, NJ and had a tremendous impact on her.

“A friend of mine told me about how OWN was looking for people who are searching for loved ones,” Alpher said. “I thought about Sister Lucy.” The episode's new show, "Searching for ..." helps people find people they have lost touch with and documents their reunion.

Faith wrote to the producers of "Searching for ..." on the OWN TV network about the impact Sister Lucy had on her life. Sister Lucy helped her realize her own potential even when she was struggling in school.

Sister Lucy and Faith

"Sister Lucy Clarke was extremely instrumental in treating me like I was gold because she used to take me off campus and have these little talks at McDonald's," said Faith in her video. "She would always tell me how special I was and how I was going to do big things, even if my life at home wasn't going, wasn't what I wanted it to be."

On an episode of "Searching for ..." originally aired on April 4th, Faith was reunited with Sister Lucy. The OWN network has posted a video that Faith made with her family after the reunion, about the search experience. (View video here)

Faith hopes that the story of her reunion with Sister Lucy will inspire viewers to thank the people who have inspired them on their own journey.

“We have power, and we don’t realize that until people come back and say thank you,” she said. “Sister Lucy told me, ‘You’re going to flourish.’ She had faith in me.”
