Sister MonicaSister Hilda Baxter, CSJP & Habour Place Receive Award

Sister Hilda Baxter, CSJP founded Harbour Place Day Center in Grimsby England in 1996. Harbour Place is a specialist day care centre, supporting the needs of some of the hardest to reach and socially excluded individuals in the community. The client group comprises of the homeless, the lonely, substance misusers, those with mental health/dual diagnosis illness, young people/care leavers (16 plus), older people, single parents, ex-offenders, the unemployed, the disabled and those who have long-term health conditions. It is the only day centre of its kind in North East Lincolnshire.

In 2009, Habour Place won the National Lottery Award for best charity/voluntary organisation in assocaition with Woman Magazine. Harbour Place was one of three charities that had been chosen by the public from ten semi finalists in the Best Charity/Voluntary Organisation category. Voting for the final finished on the 14th August and the winners were revealed at a star studded event held in London and shown on BBC1 on Saturday 5th September.
