Ministry of Spiritual Accompaniment
Audrey Kettell, CSJP-Associate living in Nottingham, England describes her ministry of Spiritual Accompaniment:
I have come to realise that one area in which I work contributes in a subtle, covert way to 'peace & justice' and that is in the field of Spiritual Accompaniment. All the people who come to me are involved in a variety of ways in 'peace & justice' work themselves, and have need of a safe space in which to stop, relax, explore, reclaim and grow in their relationship with God, so recharging their own batteries for the next month or so. They are all people who are of generous hearts who give of themselves unstintingly, often quite unaware the importance of their own contribution to 'peace & justice' as such. I sometimes think that many of us are unaware of the way in which one pebble dropped into a pool can have perhaps a very small, but yet significant effect on the wellbeing, welfare and lives of others. Often the very 'presence' of these people can have a calming, constructive and educative influence on the people around them and on the situations in which they find themselves. This of course can/may also contribute to helping develop the very much needed 'non-violent' climate in our world to-day.
