Join Us - Steps to Becoming an Associate

Getting Acquainted
The first stage of the journey is getting to know the CSJP community. Some who are interested already have connections through friendships or ministries, but most potential Associates benefit from taking time to come to community events before becoming a Pre-Associate.

Applying
Those interested meet with the Associate Co-Directors of the region  for an initial look at whether their goals and interests are calling them toward connection with the CSJP community. A written application is the formal step toward becoming a pre-Associate.

Pre-Associate Program
Typically Pre-Associates are paired with CSJP Sisters or Associates who become their mentors through the orientation program. During orientation, pre-Associates learn about the history, spirituality, charism and ministry of the CSJP community, meet Sisters and Associates, and join in community prayer and activities. The orientation programs continue over a year to three years, but in most cases the first Covenant may be made after a year of orientation.

Discernment
Pre-Associates meet with their mentors and the Associate Co-Directors to discern whether they are called to make a Covenant as an Associate. When discernment indicates Association is a good fit, the Pre-Associate is invited to make a first Covenant.

Covenants
Associates make a public covenant in the presence of the CSJP community. Initial covenants are made for one year. Associates are invited to re-covenant periodically; after ten years, active Associates may request to make a lasting Covenant.
