1884
Mother Clare (Margaret Anna Cusack) founded St. Joseph’s Confraternity of Peace in Grimbsy, England as a lay auxiliary to her new order.
1978
The 16th General Chapter formally affirmed the development of Aan ssociate program to include those persons who identify with and wish to share our charism and thrust to live peace through justice.
1982
The first Associates covenanted with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace.
1984
At the 17th General Chapter, Associate Membership was formally recognized as an extension of the life of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace
1994
“As we live our mission of peace, we continue to be enriched by the hope shared among us and brought to us by new members and by the lives of those who walk and work with us.” (Constitution 78)
