Chapter Acts - Seeds of Peace

Seeds of PeaceAt our 21st General Chapter in 2008, we turned once more to the question of where and how the gospel calls us to mission in today’s society.  What commitments should guide the Congregation during the coming six years?

In our Seeds of Peace Chapter Act, the Chapter committed to areas of Congregational focus:

arrow Care of Creation & Climate Change

By limiting the Congregational commitment to two areas we do not exclude the many and varied involvements of the Sisters and Associates in their own spheres, but we do emphasize that there is strength in a unified voice and that these two Congregational commitments, made at the highest level of governance make a call on each member and are intended to “enable us to move with a strong sense of purpose toward peacemaking” (Constitution 80).  Nor are these commitments to be confined to specific actions.  They relate to an attitude of heart and mind as much as to the specifics of what we do.  The intent of the Chapter is that they inform the totality of our lives together, our manner of living and relating, as well as our actions, prayer, discussion and decisions.
